Thursday, March 7 • 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm Parents and caregivers of adults with Autism are invited to meet with providers specializing in services for adults with Autism and other developmental disabilities. Providers in attendance: Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities, Summit County Board of Developmental Disabilities, The Blick Center, Autism Society of Greater Akron, Disability Assist, Mapping Your Plan to Advocate with Charting the LifeCourse Tools. Registration is required, but event is free.

Time to be “wearing o’ the green! Join your friends at the in-person Teen Social Club as you play Irish games, make Irish crafts and dig into holiday food with a green theme. Attend either support group to learn more about the One-Page Person Centered Discussion Tool. These support groups are peer-led, informal times for discussion and information sharing for anyone impacted by Autism and other developmental disabilities. MAR 11, 6-7pm - Caregiver Support Group at North Canton Public Library. Connect with family caregivers who are in similar situations. MAR 16, 10:30am - Adapted Play and Stories at Barberton Library. Join us for playtime in an accessible and inclusive environment, designed for families and children with disabilities. A librarian will be on hand to read with children. Children of all ages, including siblings, are welcome to attend. MAR 18, Special Education Legal Clinic, Social Security for Transition Age Youth by DRO. Connect with family caregivers who are in similar situations and find the support you deserve. MAR 20, 4:00-5:15 pm - Transition to Adulthood -This session will discuss factors influencing outcomes for individuals with ASD/IDD, the importance of a successful transition to adulthood, and factors related to success in adulthood, including community participation/employment and co-occurring mental and physical health. MAR 20, 12pm - Ohio DODD Family Advisory Council - The Family Advisory Council provides a forum for the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities (DODD) to hear directly from family members about the issues that affect their lives and provides the opportunity to learn more about the department's current initiatives from executive staff. Breathe is an evening for parents or caregivers of a special needs child, student, or adult to take some time to rest, rejuvenate, and recharge. MAR 28, 12-2:30pm - Pathways to Special Education virtual event. Hear about information to improve access to school-based services for students up to age 12. Learn about tools and strategies to increase learning among all members of the school community and empower families to be strong advocates. |
