Spelling to Communicate

Spelling to Communicate (S2C)

Monday, November 4
6:30 pm – 7:30 pm
Virtual

Spelling to Communicate teaches individuals with motor challenges the purposeful motor skills necessary to point to letters to spell as an alternative means of communication. Sam Fox from Beyond Speech Therapy Center will provide attendees with a comprehensive understanding of S2C, its implementation, and how it can benefit individuals with Autism.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

  • Learn about the history and development of S2C and understand the fundamental principles behind this innovative therapy.

  • Discover how S2C is used in therapy sessions, with detailed examples and case studies demonstrating successful outcomes.
  • Find out how to access S2C therapy, including available resources, support networks, and important information on costs and insurance.
  • Understand the controversy surrounding S2C, including the concerns raised by experts and professional organizations like the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
  • Engage in a Q&A session where your questions will be answered by our expert speaker following the presentation.

NOTE: At the moment, Spelling to Communicate is not recognized as an evidence-based practice. ASGA does not endorse any specific therapy or intervention but connects individuals and families to information about available options for them to decide what works best for them.
