Family Dynamics of
Raising an Autistic Child
Family Dynamics of Raising an Autistic Child – Virtual Presentation
Monday, September 30
6:00 pm – 7:00 pm
Virtual
Individuals and couples parenting a child on the Autism spectrum face unique and often overwhelming challenges that deeply impact the entire family. Traditional parenting approaches may not address the specific needs of a child with Autism, which can add stress and strain to family relationships. These children often struggle with executive functioning, and their challenges can be intensified by family transitions, parental conflict, and the need for consistent routines. Finding harmony and cooperation within the family can be difficult, but it is essential. Research shows that these families experience higher levels of stress, underscoring the importance of compassionate, tailored strategies to support family well-being.
TOPICS OF DISCUSSION
- The difficulties of parenting Autistic children versus neurotypical children.
- Understanding different behaviors of Autistic children around one caregiver versus the other.
