Summer is the perfect time for kids to relax, but it’s also an opportunity to keep key skills sharp in a fun and engaging way! Studies show that up to 60% of children with Autism experience skill regression during summer break, particularly in social, communication, and daily living areas (National Autistic Society). Join Katie Henderson, Occupational Therapist from Bloom OT, for a one-hour virtual workshop designed specifically for parents, caregivers, and educators of students with Autism in grades K-8. Katie will share practical strategies to help keep essential skills sharp over the summer, ensuring students stay engaged and continue to grow in a supportive and enjoyable way.

WHAT TO EXPECT

In this interactive session, Katie will cover:

  • Maintaining Handwriting Skills: Simple exercises and creative activities to keep handwriting neat and legible throughout the summer.
  • Refining Cutting Skills: Fun scissor-based crafts and activities to continue developing fine motor skills.
  • Engaging in Typing Games: How to use online typing games to improve typing speed and accuracy while keeping students entertained.
  • Organization Tips for Summer: Strategies to help students stay organized and manage tasks effectively, even when school is out.
  • Staying on Track with Routines: How to incorporate structure and routines to maintain consistency and help students thrive during the summer break.
  • Sensory Diets and Regulation Activities: Ideas for sensory activities that promote focus and self-regulation.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

This session is designed for parents, caregivers, and anyone working with students with Autism, providing hands-on tips to ensure summer is both enjoyable and productive.
