Join us for an Update on two critical policy changes currently under discussion: the potential elimination of the Department of Education and proposed cuts to Medicaid. This gathering aims to provide an overview of these significant changes, their potential impacts on our community, and what you can do to assist.

As the Autism Society of Greater Akron, our core service of advocacy is central to this event. We are committed to providing a safe environment where attendees can connect and have the opportunity to speak, listen, and ask questions, ensuring the voices of everyone in our community are heard and considered in policy decisions.

TOPICS COVERED – What We Know at the Time of Event

Elimination of the Department of Education: Learn about the current state of efforts to dismantle the Department of Education, including the proposed executive orders and legislative hurdles. Understand the potential redistribution of responsibilities to states and other federal agencies and what this means for students, educators, and families.

Medicaid Cuts: Gain insights into the proposed budget cuts to Medicaid and how they might affect healthcare access for individuals and families. Discuss the implications for local healthcare providers and the broader community.
