ABOUT THE SPEAKER

KAREN PROKOP, Information Specialist/Parent Training Coordinator

Parent Training Coordinator for OCECD, Northern office since February 2003. Karen provides information, training and support to parents regarding their rights in the special education process. Prior to joining Ohio Coalition, Karen was Advocacy Manager for Ohio Protection & Advocacy Association, from 1998-2003. She has been assisting families in securing appropriate services for children with disabilities for over 20 years. Karen’s background includes training in all aspects of special education law. She has two children; her son is challenged with Autism and multiple disabilities and her daughter with ADHD. Karen serves, Lorain, Medina, Summit, Ashland and Trumbull counties.

SCHEDULE YOUR IEP REVIEW TIME

This clinic offers parents/guardians the opportunity to bring their child’s IEP for an Ohio Coalition for the Education of Children with Disabilities (OCECD) representative to review.  Unfortunately, there is not sufficient time to review each IEP page-by-page, so we ask that parents/guardians submit their top 3 concerns regarding the IEP when registering for their clinic appointment.

NOTE:  Participants must submit their top 3 concerns and will need to bring their child's IEP and any other materials they think are relevant.

*Minimum of 10 participants needed to hold this workshop.
