ART LUNCH DOODLES with Mo Willems!

Kennedy Center Education Artist-in-Residence at Home Mo Willems invites YOU into his studio every day for his LUNCH DOODLE. Learners worldwide can draw, doodle and explore new ways of writing by visiting Mo’s studio virtually once a day for the next few weeks. Grab some paper and pencils, pens, or crayons and join Mo to explore ways of writing and making together. New episodes will be posted each weekday at 1:00 p.m. ET and then remain online to be streamed afterwards.  Check back each weekday for new LUNCH DOODLES!

DRAWING WITH ILLUSTRATORS
Author and illustrator, Jarrett J. Krosoczka, will be doing drawing tutorials on his YouTube Channel each weekday at 2pm EST beginning on 3/16. Jarrett will do this for the next few weeks.  He is the creator of Hey, Kiddo, Lunch Lady, Star Wars Jedi Academy, and more.


FAMOUS ACTORS READ CHILDREN’S BOOKS (FOR FREE)

The Screen Actors Guild Foundation has a really cool free Storyline Online Program. The SAG-AFTRA Foundation’s award-winning children’s literacy website, Storyline Online, streams videos featuring celebrated actors reading children’s books alongside creatively produced illustrations. Watch on your computer or download the app.  You can also subscribe to the Storytime Newsletter to be notified when a new story is available.

Cooped up inside and wishing you could relive some holiday cheer? You're in luck because Hallmark Channel has set a special Christmas movie marathon weekend to help you get over your self-quarantine blues.  Starting Friday, March 20 at 12 p.m. ET/PT, Hallmark will air 27 original "Countdown to Christmas" holiday films from recent years.
 
STORYPLACE
Provides children with the virtual experience of going to the Library and participating in the same types of activities the North Carolina Library offers at its physical location.
 
 
The Global Space Education Project sent children’s books to the International Space Station.  While in space, astronauts videotape themselves reading these books to the children of Earth. These videos are edited and placed on the Story Time From Space website - look under the heading ” Story Time Videos”.  Check out their  “Science Time Videos” too.

SCHOLASTIC RELEASES FREE DAILY COURSES
Each day of content is filled with exciting articles and stories, videos, and fun learning challenges. The students can even go on virtual field trips or meet best-selling authors. The website provides up to three hours’ worth of content each day and can be completed on any device. There are four categories: PreK and Kindergarten, Grades 1 and 2, Grades 3-5, and Grades 6+.

 

VIRTUAL REEF
Become a scientist and help monitor the Great Barrier Reef.  Virtual Reef Diver is a collaboration between scientists, managers, citizens, data analysts, marine explorers and reef operators working together to record, analyse and predict coral cover on the Great Barrier Reef.  The web-based interface provides a way for citizens to classify hard coral in thousands of underwater images and contribute to a growing dataset used to monitor the condition of the Reef.

NO-CONTACT NEIGHBORHOOD SCAVENGER HUNT
Create a post asking neighbors to help you out by printing or coloring a specific item to place in their front windows.  Then challenge parents and kids to take a walk around their neighborhood to see how many of that item they can find!  It’s a perfect way to get some fresh air and exercise without worrying about coming into contact with other people.  Fun for the whole family!
