If you are a grandparent, you might be asked to periodically look after your grandchildren.  But, have you considered the issues of discipline, back-up care, usual routines and rules or managing your grandchild’s behaviors?  This family situation has its challenges, but it has many bright spots as well.

The Autism Society of Greater Akron invites you to join Jocelyn Eskanazi, BaCBA, and other participants of the Grandparent Support Group as they discuss the ups and downs of looking after grandchildren with disabilities.

In this meeting, participants will:

  • Be clear about their time commitment and what they feel comfortable doing
  • Think about rules that apply to their grandchild but make life easier for grandparents
  • Learn how to respect the routines and limitations that parents have established

An electronic device equipped with a microphone and camera are required to participate using the Zoom platform.

NOTE:  While there is a focus on autism, grandparents of grandchildren of all abilities are welcome!

If you have questions or would like additional information, please contact Wendy Cline, LSW, and ASGA Support Specialist via email here or via phone at 330.940.1441 ext 1.
