What Do These Scores Mean?
A Parent’s Guide to Understanding Psychological Assessments

This workshop will focus on teaching the major areas of assessment that children with an autism spectrum disorder might receive as part of their educational or psychological evaluation. These will include: cognitive testing, academic or achievement testing, adaptive assessment, social-emotional assessments, and autism-specific measures. Each assessment domain will be reviewed in detail and best practices for evaluation will be discussed. Next, parents will learn the key components of test interpretation including how to make sense of their child’s performance and compare scores across assessments. Lastly, parents will learn how their child’s individual performance on testing can help guide IEP goals and monitor their progress over time.
