Inclusive Pop-In Event: Trees & Leaves

The Autism Society of Greater Akron is pleased to partner with Portage Park District for an Inclusive Pop-In Event at Seneca Ponds Park. Portage Park District is on its way to becoming ASGA's newest Autism Friendly Community Partner with staff receiving ASGA's Stop.Assess.Support. training earlier this year.  

The park will provide materials for participants to do leaf and bark rubbings while learning about trees and leaves native to Seneca Ponds Park. Due to the pandemic, this will be a self-guided exploration, however staff and volunteers will be available to answer questions and explain the activity.

Families and individuals of all abilities are welcome! 

Do I need to register?

Yes!  Participants will need to register as equipment is limited.  Equipment will be disinfected between users and free field guides for trees of Ohio will be given to each participant along with a FREE hands-on activity to take home.

Where do we meet?

The trails at this park are not wheelchair accessible, but we will have accomodations so all participants can enjoy the activity and learn about some of our Ohio trees!  You can view maps and information about Seneca Ponds Park prior to your arrival.

Safety Guidelines

For the safety of our staff and participants, we ask that you practice social distancing and wear facial masks while picking up your supplies. We understand that some individuals may have difficulty wearing a mask, but ask that attendees comply with the Governor's orders to the extent possible.
