Upcoming
Events

ASGA events and fundraisers bring the Greater Akron autism community together for education, networking, and fun. Events range from the Annual Autism Summit Conference to sensory-friendly days with community partners to our largest annual fundraiser, the Autism 5k Run & Walk. Events and fundraisers offer families, caregivers, educators, other professionals, and individuals with autism a safe, comfortable place to be a part of the community and support ASGA's programs and services. Money raised for ASGA stays local to support those affected by autism in Medina, Portage, Stark, Summit and Wayne counties.

Coffee, Tea & Autism - Kent

CTA Logo

Coffee, Tea and Autism provides an informal forum for discussion and information sharing among anyone impacted by autism.  Facilitators are volunteers who have first-hand knowledge of living the autism journey and have completed their training in active listening skills, group dynamics and accessing resources.

These support groups can …

  • Connect people with similar experiences
  • Provide new resources, ideas and suggestions
  • Encourage you throughout your journey
  • Celebrate successes no matter how small
  • Let you know you are not alone
  • Allow understanding with no judgement

Sometimes the best support and information comes from others living the same journey.

LET’S GET YOU CONNECTED!

KENT

Meeting Dates: 1st & 3rd Friday of Every Month
Meeting Time:  7:00pm
Location:  Panera Bread · 4338 Kent Road, Stow OH 44224

Peer Facilitator:  Mary Richards

A little about Mary ... I am Mary Richards. I am a single woman raising an autistic grandchild. I have raised four children to adulthood already. I have worked in audit and finance and am currently working as the Chief Advocate for Tommy. I have experience leading groups of all sizes and ages both through my work history and my volunteer work with Girl Scouts and my church.

Like you I experience the joys and challenges of raising a special needs child. No two of our children are alike, but we have a similar journey. Tommy is considered on the mild to moderate end of the autism spectrum. I have concerns about his being able to live independently, making friends, being comfortable in the world at large. I want to help him have an enviable life full of confidence and joy.
