Ethan's Clock

Artist:    Claudia Olaes, 17, Hudson

About the Artist
I am a senior in high school.  I have a younger brother and sister, Ethan and Isabelle.  We are very close. My brother has autism.  Our family works very hard to develop his unique gifts and talents.  We are his biggest advocates and we do our best to surround him with opportunities to bring out his greatness.  Only to find out that in return… it is Ethan who has given us the opportunities to bring out our own greatness.  Who would have ever thought that my brother’s name would stand for “E”veryone “T”ogether “H”elp “A”utism “N”ow.

About the Artwork
This piece, ETHAN’s Clock, is very special and dear to me. It’s one of my first drawings.  It’s my brother’s clock.  It’s a symbol of HOPE, COURAGE, STRENGTH, COMPASSION, INSPIRATION, ADVOCACY, WORKING TOGETHER, NEVER GIVING UP and MAKING A DIFFERENCE.  This is an actual clock located on the corner of Main St. and College St, in Oberlin, Ohio.  We, friends and family, are restoring it and have painted it blue.  The dedication and unveiling of ETHAN’s Clock will be in April of 2017.  Please join us.  All are invited.
