Virtual Workshop
Studies show that a significant percentage of individuals with Autism struggle with basic household tasks. In fact, approximately 60% of individuals with Autism face challenges in tasks such as cleaning, organizing, and helping with chores around the house (Autism Speaks, 2017). These everyday life skills are crucial for fostering independence, but many families find it difficult to teach and support these tasks in a way that promotes growth while still encouraging participation. In this webinar, Abby Carner, MS, OTR/L, an Occupational Therapist from Good Nature Therapy Services, will guide you through practical strategies for teaching life skills to individuals with Autism at every developmental stage.
WHAT TO EXPECT
During this webinar, you’ll learn how to:
- Identify when a task needs to be upgraded or downgraded to better align with the individual’s current abilities.
- Use developmentally appropriate approaches to teaching life skills that promote independence at any stage.
- Break down household tasks into clear, manageable steps to support skill-building while maintaining participation.
- Foster a positive, motivating environment that encourages the individual’s growth and confidence.
We encourage active participation and meaningful dialogue throughout the webinar, offering you the opportunity to engage with other parents and caregivers.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
- Parents and caregivers of individuals with Autism who want to learn strategies for teaching life skills at any developmental level.
- Families interested in understanding how to adapt household tasks based on skill and developmental needs, rather than age.
- Anyone looking for practical tips on how to support the individual through household tasks while fostering independence.
