ASGA SEEKS LEGO CLUB FACILITATOR

The Autism Society of Greater Akron is looking for a facilitator for an online LEGO Club for children ages 7-12. The Club is designed to offer one hour of building fun where participants engage with each other and practice social skills.  Are you a college student or professional working in the fields of special education or speech/language pathology? Are you creative, positive, patient and love working with children living with developmental disabilities? Then we want to talk with you!

SOCIAL CLUB II FOR ADULTS WITH ASD

2nd and 4th Wednesday each month beginning Feb 10
7:00-8:00 PM | Zoom Meeting

ASGA had such a great response to our first Social Club for adults with ASD that we decided to start a second group! Participants must be 18 or older and will discuss topics such as finding a job, making friends, dating, and special interests. If you are already a member of our first Social Club, you do not need to register again, this club is for NEW REGISTRANTS ONLY! Spots are limited and will fill quickly.

NH Grandparent Chat

GRANDPARENTS: WALKING THE NARROW LINE

Thursday, February 4 | 7:00-8:30 PM | Zoom Meeting

The Autism Society of Greater Akron is excited to provide a time for grandparents to network and talk about their children and grandchildren who are living with a disability. Join Jocelyn Eskenazi, BCaBA from The Esken Group, LLC to discuss common conflicts between grandparents and parents, appropriate levels of involvement, and how to be an be a valuable resource to your special-needs grandchild. While there is a focus on autism, grandparents of grandchildren of all abilities are welcome!

Take A Break

TAKE A BREAK IS STAYING FOR 2021

ASGA is excited to announce that we have extended our Take A Break program into 2021! Take a Break on ASGA is a program we created to assist the emergency needs of families affected by COVID-19 by providing three hours of respite and a $35 gift card to Giant Eagle or Walmart. Families who used this service last year are welcome to reapply for 2021!

DIRECT SUPPORT PROFESSIONAL'S TRAINING

Direct Support Professionals (DSP) play an important role in the lives of individuals with autism and intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD). Through "On The Right Side of Autism", participants will learn strategies to support and engage individuals with ASD that include both visual and behavior support and can also earn 6 CPDU’s for Adult Services, SSA and County Board Members!
