Virtual Advocacy Series

The Autism Society of Greater Akron invites everyone in the Autism Community to VOICE, a free monthly session dedicated to education, advocacy, and support for taking action.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Each month, you’ll hear from subject matter experts on important issues impacting the Autism and disability communities. Sessions are interactive and focus on practical strategies, resources, and real-world solutions.

Monthly topics may include IEPs, transition planning, healthcare access, and navigating benefits like Medicaid and SSI. Sessions will also cover disability rights, assistive technology, mental health, housing, and legal decision-making. Each month offers practical tools and insights to strengthen advocacy in education, healthcare, and community life.

Whether you’re new to advocacy or a seasoned agent for change, VOICE offers a safe space to learn, share, and grow together.

Why Advocacy Matters

Advocacy transforms lives. According to the National Council on Disability, individuals with disabilities who engage in advocacy experience greater inclusion, improved access to services, and increased independence. Whether you’re navigating school systems or planning for adulthood, knowing your rights can make all the difference in living a full life.
