Do you support someone with developmental disabilities and want to better understand Ohio’s Medicaid waivers? This free virtual lunch-and-learn session will walk you through the basics of the three DD waivers offered in Ohio: the SELF Waiver, Level One Waiver, and Individual Options (IO) Waiver.
We’ll explore the history and purpose behind HCBS (Home and Community-Based Services) waivers, how they help individuals avoid institutional care, and how to determine eligibility. You’ll also learn about the needs assessment process, financial and functional requirements, waiting lists, and the appeals process if services are denied.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Amy Mordaunt from The Arc of Ohio will guide you through:
- The differences between Ohio’s 3 DD waivers
- What Medicaid “waives” and why
- How eligibility is determined, including ICF/DD Level of Care
- The current & immediate needs assessment process
- What happens after you’re assessed – including possible outcomes and your appeal rights
- Alternative services and how to access them
