FRIENDSHIP CLUB
Meets 3rd Week Every Month | Accepts ages 7 to 12
Friendship Club is a judgement-free social environment that allows parents and 7 to 12 year olds to connect while participating in a shared social opportunity. Building up social skills with practice can help enhance participation in the community and support outcomes like happiness and friendships.

OCTOBER ACTIVITY
Come join your Friendship Club friends as we paint pumpkins and decorate masks just in time for Halloween! After the program, extend your stay by exploring the library and children's area!

What to bring: If you have an Akron Summit County Public Library card feel free to bring to the event to check out materials after the program. If you wish to apply for one, it’s recommended to fill out the online application in advance of the event.

GUIDELINES TO PARTICIPATE
Must be between ages seven to twelve years old. If you have a child outside this age range you wish to have participate, please email Theresa Maier. We want this to be a welcoming and inclusive club for all, and we welcome exceptions to this age range based on developmental needs.
We encourage families to come together to the event. If unregistered younger siblings accompany you, it is your responsibility to monitor their needs and stay with them the entire time.
To keep the space welcoming for all attendees, we are unable to accept walk-ins
Parents must remain on premise for the duration of the event. You know your child’s needs best. If you feel your child needs additional support beyond what the facilitator can provide in a group setting, please choose to stay in the room during the duration of the club to provide their needed support.

Reminder: This social club, offered by the Autism Society of Greater Akron, is intended to foster friendships in a relaxed and supportive atmosphere. They are not intended as therapy or treatment for autism or any mental health or physical disorder. The Autism Society of Greater Akron is not able to provide medical or psychotherapeutic advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
MEET THE LEADER
Theresa Maier is a Support Specialist at ASGA. She grew up in Cuyahoga county and enjoys visiting local parks, playgrounds, and beaches with her family. Theresa currently resides in Copley with her husband and son, who was diagnosed with Autism at 23 months old. In her free time, Theresa also enjoys cooking and reading.
