We’re Goin’ Fishing!

Come fishing with ASGA and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources at Wingfoot Lake State Park.

Try a new activity without buying all the gear. This event welcomes all ages and abilities. Open to all fishing skill levels, from first‑timers to experienced anglers—no experience needed, with support available.

What a great way to spend a lovely weekend morning!

WHAT IS PROVIDED

We will provide:

  • Fishing rods and bait
  • Help baiting hooks
  • Assistance with reeling in fish
  • Outdoor games
  • Snacks and water

You do not need:

  • Fishing experience
  • A fishing license
  • Your own equipment

ABOUT THE FISH

  • Catch and release only
  • You do not have to touch the fish
  • Staff can help handle the fish
  • Fish are kept safe in an aquarium for viewing until the event ends

ACCESSIBILITY & SUPPORT

  • Wheelchair‑accessible fishing area
  • Handicap parking nearby
  • Some shade near the shore
  • Dock area has little to no shade

Personal supports are welcome, including caregivers and aides.

SAFETY & COMFORT

  • Closed‑toe shoes are recommended
  • Life vests are available if needed
  • Restrooms are nearby
  • Hand sanitizer will be available

Consider bringing:

  • Sunscreen
  • Hat or sunglasses
  • Bug spray
  • Lawn chairs or a blanket
  • Extra water, snacks, or picnic

COST & REGISTRATION

  • Cost for groups of 1 or 2:  $10 per person
  • Cost for groups of 3 or more: $25
  • DEADLINE:  Register by May 28

If the registration fee poses a financial hardship for your family, please complete the Scholarship Form and email to Lisa Thompson for consideration.

WEATHER

  • This is an outdoor event
  • It will run rain or shine unless unsafe
  • Families will be contacted if plans change
