Taking an Active Role in Your Child’s IEP
Parental involvement is vital to a child’s IEP team process. There is no one as interested in and motivated to see a child succeed and thrive than their own parents. This fact alone places the parent in a crucial role on the IEP team.
Though the IEP process can be intimidating, parents should be prepared to offer insight into whether current strategies and instruction are helping the child make progress. Knowing the IEP components can help parents evaluate their child's IEP to insure they are getting the proper education.

MEET THE SPEAKER
Clinton Householder, Esquire
Community Legal Aid Services, Inc.
Clinton joined Community Legal Aid in 2019. Currently, his work focuses on helping families navigate the special education process, both by teaching them to advocate for their child with the school and by representing families when dealing with their school. He has represented or provided counsel and advice to hundreds of families in the greater Akron area on special education issues.
Prior to joining Community Legal Aid, Clinton worked as an associate at Brennan Manna Diamond, a large law firm in Northeast, Ohio. Clinton is also a court-appointed special advocate in Summit County.
Clinton is a graduate of the University of Akron and the University of Akron School of Law.
