Do you or someone you love struggle with getting shots? Then consider making an appointment for this Adapted Clinic and get your vaccine in a calm environment with pharmacists trained in dealing with needle anxiety and communication challenges.  The Autism Society of Greater Akron is proud to partner with the Summit County Board of DD and Sand Run Pharmacy to provide this opportunity.

You can complete the necessary forms before the appointment to reduce wait times and you get:

• Vaccine Support Bag with shotblocker (tool to minimize pain), headphones, fidgets, sunglasses in a drawstring bag
• McDonald’s gift card

ADAPTIONS INCLUDE:

• Trained pharmacists in techniques to support anxiety and communication challenges
• Schedule an appointment
• Insurance forms to be completed ahead of time sent upon registration
• Social narrative available
• Calm Room to “regroup," if needed
• Shot assistance tools to reduce anxiety: Buzzie Bee or Shot Blocker
• FREE vaccine support bag for patients
• Option for drive-up vaccination - stay in your car and the pharmacist will come outside to administer the vaccine(s)
  
  

WHO’S ELIGIBLE:

• COVID vaccine for ages 12 and above.
• Flu vaccine for ages 7 and above.
• DO NOT have to be served by Summit DD - All abilities welcome!
• Medicaid and private insurance accepted - please bring your insurance card.

Each person who receives a vaccine and completes a brief survey will receive a FREE Vaccination Support Bag and a McDonald’s gift card.

*Additional timeslots can be added if timeslots fill.

*Please note that we must have a minimum of 10 individuals registered to offer the clinic. Should the clinic need to be cancelled, you will be contacted by 1/29/24.
