ASGA Launches 54 Day Challenge saying, “Summer is coming!”

Celebrates 1:54 Children with Autism

The Autism Society of Greater Akron (ASGA) launches its eleventh annual signature fundraiser – social distance style – on Saturday, April 24, with a hybrid event designed to capture all abilities and all comfort levels!

The Step Into Autism 54 Day Challenge asks participants to walk, run, cycle…or just move, anytime and anywhere between April 24 and June 17.  The Challenge is to set a goal and compete to win prizes for achieving your fitness goals…for a great cause!  On June 19, ASGA is collaborating with Lock 3 Park in downtown Akron for a Resource Fair and Fun Day, where we will award prizes, offer resources and information on services, and enjoy games and food.

“The Step Into Autism 54 Day Challenge is a new way for us to do a virtual fundraiser,” said Laurie Cramer, Executive Director of ASGA, “and also to offer the resource fair and fun day we’ve always done as part of this event. The day we come together is beloved, as we celebrate 1:54 children and over 5 million adults who live with autism. We missed it so much last year and while we have a back-up plan, we are counting on our ability to social distance at Lock 3 so we can enjoy the celebration together. Summer is coming, so why not get into shape for a great cause!”
