EXPLORING THE FARM: ALL ABOUT PIGS
DID YOU KNOW?
- They are the 3rd smartest animal and are thought to be smarter than a 3-5 year old child!
- Pigs snuggle close to one another and like to sleep nose to nose. They even have dreams like humans!
- Mother pigs sing to their piglets while feeding them. This helps the piglets remember their mother's voice
- Pigs do not sweat so they cool down by laying in water or mud
- They can be litter trained and be kept as indoor pets
- Mini pigs can get as big as 200 pounds
- They keep growing until they are 5 years old
- Pigs are omnivores – they eat plants and animals
- They have 15,000 taste buds! Humans have 9,000
- Pigs do not “eat like pigs” or “pig out.” They prefer to eat slowly and savor their food.
