Ways to Advocate

Autisim Advocate Banner blk

Help us advocate for policies and programs in support of individuals with autism and their families. From initiatives to improve education and safety to ensuring equal employment opportunities, we are committed to proactively influencing public policy by working alongside community leaders, school officials, teachers, policy makers, elected officials and everyone in between.

Make Your Voice Heard

Help us champion state and federal legislation to promote issues that are important to the autism community. It takes all of us to call, write and have our voices heard. To receive the Autism Society of America’s legislative alerts, sign up here.

Become an Autism-Friendly Community Partner

In 2017, the Autism Society of Greater Akron launched its Autism-Friendly Communities program in Summit County, the first in Ohio to declare itself committed to this cause! Want to become a corporate, business, or agency partner? Contact us for information on how to get started.

Create an Inclusive Classroom

Inclusion is not something that a school has, but something that a school does. Inclusive classrooms advocate for students with autism by demonstrating and educating. Read these articles for more information: How to Adapt and Include, Classroom Strategies, and Sensory Strategies.
